ABSENTEE VOTING will be available September 18, for voters for the General Election to be held on November 3, 2020. To comply with the CDC guidelines, social distancing and to help keep all of our voters and workers safe, Auditors are encouraging you to request your absentee ballot via mail or email.
You can access the absentee ballot request form on the Secretary of State page www.sdsos.gov click on Request Absentee Ballot and if you page down there will be a link to download an application. need to fill this out, sign and mail back to your Auditorís Office, or place in our drop box that is located at the front doors of the Courthouse. An original signature is needed to validate the ballot before counting. The application also calls for a copy of your ID to accompany the form, if you do not have access to a copy machine, a photo of your ID can be emailed or text to your local auditorís office from your smart phone.
If you do not have access to a computer you may also request a ballot simply by writing a letter stating you are requesting an absentee ballot for the General Election. State the address where you want the ballot to be mailed to, SIGN it and mail or place in the drop box located at the front doors of the Courthouse. A copy of your ID also needs to accompany this letter.
