Brule County Extension
Welcome to the SDSU Brule County Cooperative Extension Service. The CES mission is "to help people improve their lives through an educational process that uses scientific knowledge focused on issues and needs".
Each county CES office serves as a door through which the community can access programs or resources available through the university system. Brule County Extension provides information, programming and educational resources in Youth Development, Agriculture, Horticulture and Family and Consumer Sciences.
Brule County is part of the Central 3 District including Aurora, Brule, Buffalo, Davison, Hanson, Jerauld and Sanborn counties.

Soybean Young Leader Program
The South Dakota Soybean Association is actively seeking applications for the 2010 American Soybean Association/Dupont Young Leader Program.
The program focuses on leadership training for an individual or farm couple looking to become more active in leading the soybean industry with innovation and vision. You must be at least 21 years old to participate.
Apply online at www.soygrowers.com/dyl or pick up an application at the Extension office. The deadline is August 31.
Extension Livestock Educator Rebecca Schafer is the author of the blog, and said she hopes it provides another avenue for producers to connect across South Dakota. "This blog has the potential to speed up the process of getting answers to porducers and can also serve as a database of frequently asked questions because more than likely someone elase has thought of the same question."
Check Pesticides for Unusable Product
Now is a good time for South Dakota farmers to take stock of their pesticides and set aside unusable product for safe disposal. Charles "Spike" King, program specialist for the SD Department of Ag, said the department will be collecting wwaste pesticides again this year. This program works with all entities, public and private, to make sure that unusable pesticides are disposed of in an environmentally sound manner.
Porducers can contact the SD Dept. of Ag, which will make arrangements to dispose of unusable pesticide products safely. Contact your local Extension office for forms, or visit a the SD Dept. of Ag website, http://www.state.sd.us/doa/das/hp-pest.htm#waste The website allow users to download a pre-registration form or to register online. Individuals will also find other information pertaining to unusable pesticides.
